In honor of Howard Meyer’s 20 years as president and CEO of the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, the village of Skokie proclaimed February 18 as Howard Meyer Recognition Day.
Mayor George Van Dusen read the proclamation at the Feb. 18 Village Board meeting. Meyer, who stepped down from the position in January, accepted a certificate from the village.
“I’m very humbled by this recognition,” said Meyer.
“It has been an honor to serve this community and to grow the area’s businesses as president and CEO of the Skokie Chamber of Commerce.”
“Even though I am stepping away from the Chamber of Commerce at this time, I’m still going to be here to serve the community and serve you in my capacity now as the Director of Employment and Business Partnerships for Jewish Child and Family Services.”
Patrick Deignan, the village’s communications and community engagement director, told Pioneer Press that Vicki Street is leading the Chamber of Commerce.
In his proclamation, Van Dusen said Meyer has grown the chamber of commerce to represent more than 600 members in the North Shore area. Meyer also served as a commissioner for the village’s Economic Development Commission, Consumer Affairs Commission and the Plan Commission — Housing Sub-Committee.
