Southland crime: Child pornography arrests in Oak Lawn, Tinley Park

The following items were taken from police and court reports and news releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Chicago Ridge

SHOTS FIRED: A burst of shooting in the Chicago Ridge Commons parking lot at 9:45 p.m. May 2 shattered the front window of a store and damaged two parked cars, leaving 25 shells and an unspent bullet on the ground, police said. Four males were seen leaving in two vehicles, police said.

Evergreen Park

BURGLARY: A resident in the 9500 block of Sawyer Avenue reported seeing a male exit his garage and jump over his backyard fence April 28. Video from neighbors’ residential cameras showed the individual heading northeast, police said.

Homewood

BATTERY: Kevin Williams, 62, 14600 block of Center Avenue, Harvey, was arrested and accused of battery during an April 7 retail theft investigation at Jewel-Osco, 17705 Halsted St., after throwing a bag of undisclosed items in a responding officer’s face, police said. Williams is also accused of retail theft and resisting arrest, police said.

Lansing

DUI CRASH: Trinelle Tyus, 49, Lansing, was arrested and accused of drunken driving during an April 17 crash investigation at an undisclosed location and additionally accused of obstruction after refusing to exit her vehicle, police said.

ILLEGAL GUN: Trevion Dean, 19, Lansing, was arrested and accused of unlawful use of a weapon during an April 19 traffic stop after an officer discovered a loaded handgun in the vehicle during a pre-tow inventory, police said. Dean was too young to qualify for state-mandated gun permits, according to Illinois law.

Nathaniel Guzman, 23, Gary, Indiana, arrested April 22 at an undisclosed location and accused of driving without a license, told the arresting officer he didn’t believe he needed a license to drive for a ride-share/delivery service, police said.

Lockport

PROPERTY DAMAGE: A 23-year-old Lockport man accused of damaging eight vehicles in the Victoria Crossings subdivision over a 10-day period was arraigned April 29 on an eight-count felony criminal damage to property charge, according to Will County court records online. Simon S. Komperda, 16500 block of Coventry Lane, dented and ripped parts off of a vehicle March 3 and scratched or keyed seven other vehicles Feb. 29 through March 9, police said.

New Lenox

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Robert J. Redman, 27, 400 block of Root Street, New Lenox, was arrested and accused of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct April 30 at Silver Cross Medical Center after he said he was going to harm security officers and shoot staff members and after tried to bite a security officer, police said.

Oak Lawn

PREDATORY ASSAULT: A 59-year-old Oak Lawn man has been charged with child pornography/solicitation of a child younger than 13, attempted/predatory criminal sexual assault of a child younger than 13 after sending sexually explicit messages and nude photo requests, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. Francisco Nanez, 9300 block of South 54th Court, was arrested May 1 in Berwyn, where he had arranged to meet a person he believed was the minor victim, sheriff’s police said. The Internet Crimes Against Children Unit began a multi-week investigation of Nanez in April, with a member posing online as the minor victim while texting on a cellphone Nanez believed belonged to the minor, sheriff’s police said.

Orland Park

ROAD RAGE: Delani N. Grayer, 24, 6400 block of Gray Hawk Drive, Matteson, was arrested and accused of battery during an April 15 road rage investigation at 143rd Street and John Humphrey Drive, police said. Grayer tailgated the other driver, cutting him off while maneuvering around his car, abruptly stopped, exited her vehicle with a glass bottle, approached the other vehicle and threw the bottle in the driver’s face, cutting it, police said.

Park Forest

ILLEGAL GUN: Leslie R. McBain, 29, Chicago, was arrested and accused of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, two counts of illegally possessing a controlled substance and possessing 100-500 grams of cannabis with intent to sell after officers recovered a 9 mm handgun, black market tranquilizer pill, bottle of codeine-based antihistamine pills and 125 grams of packaged adult-use cannabis during an April 14 traffic stop in the 2500 block of Western Avenue, police said.

PROPERTY DAMAGE: Charles P. Diorio, 28, 300 block of Neola Street, Park Forest, was charged in Cook County court with domestic battery after throwing a glass bottle through a car’s front passenger-side window, injuring two people, during a disagreement May 4 in the 300 block of Neola Street, police said. Responding officers located Diorio in Monee, where he resisted arrest, slamming the squad door into an officer while being placed inside and then setting fire to the back seat while returning to Park Forest, police said.

Steger

ILLEGAL GUN: Nathan M. Gonzales, 23, 3400 block of Wallace Avenue, Steger, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after an officer found a loaded 9 mm handgun under the driver’s seat during an April 27 search and determined he lacked a concealed carry license, police said.

Tinley Park

PORN POSSESSION: A 19-year-old Tinley Park man whose cellphone contained pornographic images of children made his first appearance at a detention hearing in Cook County court in Bridgeview Friday, according to police and the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. Noah McGonigal, 8400 block of Dunmore Drive, is charged with possessing child pornography, police said. Tinley Park investigators assigned to the Cook County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force took McGonigal into custody May 2 following a search of his residence that recovered his cellphone, police said.
