CARJACKING: A Cadillac was taken at gunpoint April 23 from a gas station in the 12700 block of Pulaski Road by one of three men in a stolen Honda Civic, police said. Both vehicles departed at a high rate of speed, police said.
Burbank
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Two individuals took jewelry valued at $3,000 from a home in the 4800 block of 85th Street April 18 after breaking through the back door at about 8:15 p.m., according to a nearby business’ security video.
Chicago Heights
SHOTS FIRED: Officers responding to a 2 p.m. April 25 shots-fired report near 24th and Halsted streets identified the get-away vehicle and apprehended the offender in the 1500 block of 187th Street, with the assistance of Homewood officers and K9 unit, police said. The searchers recovered a handgun where the vehicle had crashed into a tree in the 18600 block of Riegel Road, police said.
Crete
FATAL CRASH: A southern California semi-tractor trailer driver who tested positive for methamphetamine after an April 16 crash at Route 394 and Burville Road, that killed a Chicago man, is scheduled to appear in Will County court May 1, charged with aggravated driving under the influence of drugs, according to Illinois State Police and court records online. William D. Fanning, 58, Rancho Cucamonga, was driving east when he failed to yield to Joshua D. Kutz, 40, who was killed when his car collided with the trailer’s back end, police said.
Dixmoor
CARJACKING: A car was reported taken at gunpoint at about 8:05 p.m. April 26 in the 1900 block of 142nd Street by six or seven individuals.
Homewood
DUI CRASH: Dennis Kaftan, 48, 9400 block of Sawyer Avenue, Evergreen Park, was arrested March 31 during a crash investigation at Park Avenue and Pine Road and accused of driving under the influence of drugs, failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision and driving without proof of insurance, police said.
VEHICLE SHOT: No one was injured in a 9:30 a.m. April 20 shooting in the 900 block of Elder Road that riddled a parked vehicle with bullets, police said.
SCHOOL LOCKDOWN: Willow Elementary School was placed on lockdown at about 3:45 p.m. April 25 while officers assisted Chicago Heights police searching for an armed suspect, police said.
Lansing
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Ryan N. Kozy, 29, 300 block of Bernice Road, Lansing, was stunned with a Taser after pushing an officer during a March 19 investigation and charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting arrest and domestic battery, police said.
Lockport
SCHOOL THREATS: Matthew C. Judy, 41, 14500 block of Pebble Creek Drive, Homer Glen, made his first appearance in Will County court April 22, charged with threatening a school building or school person, according to court records online. The charge stems from a Nov. 30 anonymous post on Lockport Township High School District’s Facebook page that stated the school needed to be shut down to prevent an active-shooter situation, police said. School officials determined there was no danger, police said.
Midlothian
CARJACKING: A gun-wielding individual hijacked a car at about 2:30 a.m. April 29 at 147th Street and Keystone Avenue, police said.
Monee
THEFT: Cash was reported stolen from two slot machines April 18 at the Petro Travel Center, 5915 Monee-Manhattan Road. Access was made by damaging the cash boxes, police said.
SEXUAL SOLICITATION: Keetwon K. Montgomery, 30, 25700 block of Linden Avenue, Monee, is scheduled to appear in Will County court May 8, charged with soliciting a sexual act from a person younger than 18, according to court records online.
ARSON ATTEMPT: Elijah P. Fields-Facko, 18, Lynwood, was arrested April 21 and accused of attempted arson at the Amazon Fulfillment Center, 6655 Monee-Manhattan Road, after security video linked him to fires in three bathrooms, police said. Fields-Facko was taken into custody at 11 p.m. from among employees who had been evacuated at 8:30 p.m. from the facility, police said.
Oak Lawn
RESTAURANT BURGLARY: The cash drawer was stolen during an early morning April 4 break-in at a vegan cafe in the 4800 block of 95th Street. One person entered the establishment after throwing a landscaping brick through the glass door while a second person waited in a car, according to security video and a witness, police said.
Orland Park
AGGRAVATED DUI: Alexander R. Rodriguez, 36, Griffith, Indiana, was arrested and accused of aggravated drunken driving, driving on a revoked license/DUI and driving without proof of insurance March 27 at 159th Street and Orlan Brook Drive, police said.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: James M. Shy, 35, Chicago, was arrested March 27 and accused of aggravated battery, retail theft, criminal damage to property and resisting arrest after punching an employee in the face and smashing five bottles of liquor at Jewel-Osco, 9350 159th St., police said.
DEALING ALLEGED: George H. Franklin, 23, Machesney Park, and Haiden P. Gille, 24, Roscoe, were arrested March 28 and accused of possessing 500 to 2,000 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver at 159th Street and Park Station Boulevard after officers recovered 10 ounces of cannabis flower, 6 ounces of THC edibles, 15 grams of cannabis wax and 8 grams of THC cartridges, police said. The cannabis, purchased at a New Buffalo, Michigan, dispensary, lacked Illinois stamps and exceeded the legal amount for individual consumption, police said.
Palos Heights
COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS: An Italian national is accused of selling three knockoff products as legitimate Apple products to an individual in Palos Heights for $790 apiece on April 17, police said. Antonio Picariello, 44, was arrested April 19 by Elmhurst police in response to a flyer identifying him as a suspect and charged April 21 with theft by deception, police said.
Park Forest
AGGRAVATED DUI: Sophia G. Lane, 28, 2500 block of Central Drive, Flossmoor, was arrested April 6 and subsequently charged with aggravated DUI/suspended license during a disabled vehicle investigation on Sauk Trail near Orchard Drive, police said. She was also accused of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, child endangerment, driving without proof of insurance, illegally transporting alcohol, obstructing identification and possessing drug paraphernalia, police said.

CARJACKING: At least two people took a car at gunpoint at about 11:50 p.m. April 27 in the 13700 block of School Street, police said.
Tinley Park
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Deron S. Macron, 30, 2000 block of 219th Place, Sauk Village, was arrested April 18 on a warrant charging him with aggravated battery to a police officer and trespassing to a building, according to Will County court and sheriff’s records online. The charge stems from Macron pushing a Will County sheriff’s deputy who was intervening in a 12:20 a.m. Oct. 13 fracas at Tinley Bowl, 7601 183rd St., Tinley Park, sheriff’s police said.
