Southland crime: Kidnapping in New Lenox, child pornography in Riverdale, and more

Burbank

BATTERY: Alix M. Santacruz, 28, Aurora, was charged with aggravated battery, unlawful restraint and interfering in a domestic violence report Sunday in the 7800 block of Rutherford Avenue after threatening to stab a dog that urinated on the apartment floor, threatening the dog’s owner and then placing a couch in front of the apartment door to impede responding officers, police said.

Chicago Ridge

GUN THREAT: Cesar Cortez Rosales, 18, Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon Feb. 26 at Chicago Ridge Mall after officers recovered a loaded 9 mm handgun from him while investigating a report of a man displaying a gun at 87th Street and Southwest Highway, police said.

Evergreen Park

VEHICULAR HIJACKING: A motorist said his car was taken at gunpoint while stopped early Sunday morning at 91st Street and Western Avenue.

Monee

BATTERY: A Chicago man spat in the face of an officer called to remove him Feb. 29 from Petro Truck Center after he became loud and abusive because he couldn’t buy cigarettes without identification, police said. Isaiah L. Solomon, 21, was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, police said.

New Lenox

KIDNAPPING: A Lockport-area man who took his girlfriend’s infant and car was arrested Sunday after crashing while passing an eastbound semi tractor-trailer on the shoulder of Interstate 80, sheriff’s police said. Illinois State Police took Jamie L. Lugo, 29, 1200 block of Grandview Avenue, into custody near the U.S. Route 30/Maple Street exit, sheriff’s police said. He is charged with aggravated kidnapping/child younger than 13 and two counts of child endangerment, according to court records online. Lugo also faces charges of aggravated battery, domestic battery and interfering with a report of domestic battery in connection with an earlier argument with his girlfriend, sheriff’s police said.

Oak Lawn

ROAD RAGE: Preston D. Walker, 33, Chicago, was arrested and accused of being a felon with a stolen handgun after officers recovered a loaded .40 caliber pistol during a Feb. 25 road-rage investigation that began in the 9200 block of Cicero Avenue and ended at 103rd Street and Cicero Avenue, police said.

ARMED ROBBERY: A professional food wholesaler told police he was robbed at gunpoint of $3,300 over a four-hour period by a man who entered his parked car Feb. 24 in the 4300 block of 91st Place. The victim/complainant said the man initially took 15 $20 bills and then, while riding in the back seat, made him withdraw $3,000 from a business account via several ATM machines.

ILLEGAL GUN: Javauris L. Montgomery, 26, Chicago, was arrested and accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon during a Feb. 27 traffic stop in the 4700 block of 95th Street after an officer recovered a loaded 9 mm handgun from the rear passenger seat and determined Montgomery lacked state-mandated gun credentials, police said. Montgomery was later also charged with possession of fraudulent identification after a detention officer found he had two altered IDs belonging to another person and two credit/debit cards belonging to two other people, police said.

ASSAULT ALLEGED: An Atlanta-area driver was arrested Friday after displaying a loaded 9 mm handgun to office staff at his former employer, the MN89 trucking company, 10825 Central Ave., police said. Kenneth D. Kneuer, 42, Cumming, Georgia, is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon/loaded firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon/no state-mandated gun credentials, police said. Kneuer said he was angry that company employees had removed and discarded his personal belongings from the semi tractor-trailer he had driven for seven months, police said.

VANDALISM: Two juvenile graffiti artists accused of multiple counts of criminally defacing property Friday have been arrested, with the mother of one arrested and accused of obstruction and resisting arrest, police said.

Riverdale

CHILD PORNOGRAPHY: A Riverdale man who possessed sexually explicit videos of children under the age of 13 and more than 300 images of children as young as 5 has been charged with two counts each of dissemination and solicitation of child pornography, three counts of possession of child pornography, three counts each of Intimidation by ridicule and three counts of grooming, according to Cook County sheriff’s police. James E. Wright, 32, was arrested Feb. 15. Investigators also identified a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Steger

SCHOOL GUN: A Feb. 28 report of a student with a gun at Columbia Central Middle School drew local law enforcement, Crete and South Chicago Heights officers, who recovered a toy gun, identified the students involved and turned the matter over to juvenile investigation, police said.

Tinley Park

CHOKING ALLEGED: A Plainfield man who told police he was trying to stop a woman from “tweaking” and “tussling” in their motel room Feb. 23 has been charged with two counts of aggravated domestic battery/strangulation, according to police and Will County court records online. Kelvin M. Greenfield Jr., 35, 13300 block of Meadow Lane, Plainfield, is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing Tuesday on the charge, which includes misdemeanor domestic battery and reporting interference counts, court records show.

HIGH-TECH ARREST: Computer software created to help find missing children enabled officers to identify one of two women accused of stealing skin care products collectively selling for $3,375 on Oct. 18 from Ulta, 7350 191st St., police said. Investigators used the application to identify Makayla M. Harris, 23, Chicago, matching a still shot of her uncovered face from the store’s security video to Secretary of State driver’s license images on file, police said. Harris was charged with retail theft over $300, according to Will County court records online.

University Park

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Darrell Q. Johnson, 35, 20800 block of Gardner Avenue, Chicago Heights, was accused of aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting arrest Saturday after scratching, biting and head butting one officer and kicking a second officer in the chest while being arrested for trespassing at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Red Oak Lane, police said.
