KNIFE SLASHING: A woman spending an extended stay at a hotel in the 5000 block of 79th Street was transported to a medical center Jan. 29 after her roommate slashed her leg, police said. The woman said she awoke to the knife-wielding individual, who may have been looking through her cellphone.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: The front door of an apartment in the 7000 block of 86th Place was forced open Jan. 31 while the residents were away, police said. Items reported missing include jewelry and cash.
Frankfort
OFFENDER REGISTRATION: Lawrence J. Blake, 73, 10800 block of Doral Drive, Frankfort, was arrested Feb. 14 on a warrant charging him with failing to register as a sex offender, according to Will County sheriff’s and court records online. Blake last registered in 2019, according to Michigan state sex-offender records online, which state he was convicted in California in 1979.
Homewood
GUN POSSESSION: Shaquan Walton, 24, Chicago, was arrested and accused of unlawful possession of a firearm Jan. 20 after officers recovered a loaded handgun, an undisclosed controlled substance and more than 30 grams of marijuana in the 2300 block of 183rd Street, police said.
DEALING ALLEGED: Masai Love, 24, 17500 block of Butternut Road, Hazel Crest, is scheduled to appear in Cook County court at Markham March 6, charged with possessing 30 to 500 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver, possessing 100-500 grams of cannabis, driving on a suspended license, driving without proof of insurance and speeding, a court spokesperson said. Officers recovered 220 grams of marijuana during a Jan. 28 search of his vehicle at 183rd Street and Center Avenue, police said.
Lansing
BURGLARY: Jared L. Herron, 34, and Andy Richardson, 41, both of Gary, Indiana, and Raymond Lane, 42, Browder, Kentucky, were arrested Jan. 18 after officers encountered them removing copper wire from inside two vacant buildings in a strip mall the 16800 block of Torrence Avenue, police said. Herron was also charged with possession of a controlled substance after officers recovered a bag of suspected heroin, police said.
Lockport
HOUSE SHOT: Police say a home in the 300 block of East 13th Street hit by four bullets the evening of Feb. 16 probably wasn’t the intended target. Officers responding at 10:13 p.m. determined the two adults and two children inside the home were unharmed and also recovered nine .45 caliber shells from the roadway.
Matteson
TRIO ARRESTED: Three suspects were arrested and two firearms recovered in connection with a Feb. 17 armed robbery that began on Chicago’s West Side in a stolen vehicle, expanded into shots fired into a South Side home and then turned into a chase through Sauk Village and into Matteson, Chicago police said. Sauk Village and Illinois State police joined the pursuit from Illinois Route 394 and Lincoln Highway to Central Avenue near Vollmer Road, police said.
New Lenox
DUI CRASH: Christian P. Bafia, 30, 7800 block of 97th Place, Hickory Hills, was arrested Feb. 8 and accused of drunken driving and hit-run in connection with a crash at Lincoln Highway and Prairie Road that injured the other driver, police said.
DOZING DRIVER: Rodney P. Morris, 39, Wheeling, was arrested Feb. 9 and accused of drunken driving after an officer found him asleep at the wheel at Lincoln Highway and Interstate 80, police said.
Orland Park
FORGERY: Rickey Juarez, 64, Chicago, was arrested Jan. 18 and accused of forgery after attempting to withdraw $1,000 Jan. 18 from an out-of-state resident’s account at Tech Credit Union, 11051 79th St., with a fake driver’s license, police said.
Palos Heights
DECEPTION THEFT: Christopher Mashburn, 44, 200 block of Park Lane, Sauk Village, turned himself in Feb. 14 to face a charge of online theft by deception, police said. On Jan. 13 Mashburn, then recently hired as a groundskeeper at a local country club, used the club’s commercial account to purchase two $2,000 e-gift cards for his personal use, police said.
Palos Hills
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Feb. 5 security video at a business in the 11200 block of Southwest Highway shows three people arriving in a car, unsuccessfully attempting to pry open an exterior door with a crowbar and then fleeing in the car, police said.
Park Forest
AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Izekeo M. German, 25, 2800 block of 226th Place, Sauk Village, was arrested Jan. 29 in the 300 block of Oswego Street and accused of aggravated battery, resisting arrest and assault after kicking an officer in the back while under arrest for trespassing to a residence, police said.
RECKLESS DRIVING: Randy Fields, 48, 200 block of Tampa Street, Park Forest, was arrested Feb. 7 on Monee Road at Tampa Street and accused of reckless driving, aggravated speeding and drunken driving after officers clocked him driving 85 mph in a 30 mph zone, police said.
