Southland crime: Robberies in Burbank, South Holland, counterfeit bills in Orland Park, and more


The following items were taken from police and court reports and news releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Burbank

ROBBERY: Two men took 50 $100 bills from an elderly man at about 4 p.m. Nov. 6 after exiting Huntington Bank, 1101 Harlem Ave., police said. Surveillance video shows two men approaching the man as he entered his car, and inside the car traveling briefly between the bank and a neighboring parking lot, police said. The victim said he had withdrawn the $5,000 for his son, police said.

Evergreen Park

GUN POSSESSION: Deandrea E. Moulton, 47, Chicago, was arrested and accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon Nov. 19 in the 9200 block of Western Avenue after officers recovered a loaded revolver from his car and determined he lacked state-required gun permits, police said.

GUN POSSESSION: Darren L. Williams, 59, 6800 block of 111th Place, Worth, was arrested Nov. 21 in the 3900 block of 95th Street after officers recovered a loaded handgun and determined he lacked state gun permits, police said.

Lockport

DOMESTIC: Ryan Jay Feeback, 28, 1300 block of Bello Circle, Lockport, is scheduled to appear in Will County court Dec. 17, charged with aggravated domestic battery/strangulation and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Nov. 28 in the 14200 block of Highland Ridge, police said.

Midlothian

BATTERY: A man beaten up by two men Nov. 11 inside a gas station in the 14900 block of Central Avenue declined to identify his assailants or participate in their prosecution, police said. The victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment of a cut over his eye, police said.

Monee

GUN POSSESSION: Trey Von L. Smith, 33, first block of 28th Street, South Chicago Heights, was sentenced Nov. 15 to four days in jail, with credit for four days served, and placed on 24 months probation after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm in a vehicle without a valid state gun permit, according to Will County court records online. Officers arrested Smith in August 2021 after recovering a loaded 9 mm pistol, police said.

New Lenox

REPLICA GUN: Francisco Villasenor, 40, 12000 block of Meadowland Drive, Homer Glen, and Kayleigh M. Hawrysio, 36, Manhattan, were arrested Nov. 26 and accused of disorderly conduct after bringing a replica firearm capable of firing blank cartridges into a gambling facility in the 2400 block of East Joliet Highway and displaying it to another patron, police said.

GUN POSSESSION: Leticia V. Montes, 33, Joliet, was arrested Nov. 27 and subsequently charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after an officer recovered a loaded firearm from her and a second firearm under a car seat and then determined she lacked a concealed carry license, police said.

Oak Lawn

GUN POSSESSION: Jesus Martinez, 21, Chicago, was arrested Nov. 23 and accused of unlawful use of a weapon after an officer recovered a loaded 9 mm pistol and loaded magazine from his vehicle at 51st Street and Southwest Highway and determined he lacked a concealed carry license.

Orland Park

COUNTERFEITING: Lavanda R. Cunningham, 40, Rantoul, was arrested Nov. 5 and subsequently charged with two counts of forgery and one count of attempted forgery, after using counterfeit $100 bills to pay for merchandise at a Talk N Fix kiosk in Orland Square mall and at Pacific Sunwear, 825 Orland Square Drive, and then offering a counterfeit $100 bill at Hooters, 15300 La Grange Road, police said.

THEFT: A Matteson woman was arrested Nov. 7 at Orland Square mall and accused of retail theft and possessing stolen property after officers recovered merchandise selling for nearly $2,600, police said. Erin T. Seals, 25, 700 block of Violet Lane, Matteson, took merchandise selling for $577 from Sephora, 730 Orland Square Drive, and had merchandise collectively selling for more than $2,000 at Bloomingdale’s in Chicago, and Lululemon at an unidentified location, police said.

GUN POSSESSION: Ashanti T. Dennis, 27, 18300 block of Burnham Circle, Lansing, was arrested Nov. 9 in the 800 block of Orland Square Drive and subsequently charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and unlawful possession of a firearm without a state-required gun permit after officers recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun reported stolen out of Calumet City, police said.

Palos Hills

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: A $55,000 necklace was taken from a home on Lucas Drive during a burglary reported Nov. 28, police said. Intruders entered through the living room window and ransacked bedroom closets, police said.

Park Forest

BURGLARIES: Vay Quawn M. Lane, 20, and Michael N. Lane Jr., 22, both of Dolton, were arrested and accused of burglary Nov. 23 after a sergeant linked the contents of their rented moving van to the burglary of a house on Sioux Street, police said. Appliances were taken from that house, as well as houses at undisclosed addresses on Manitowac, New Salem, and Tomahawk streets, police said.

South Holland

ARMED ROBBERY: Illinois State Police say no one was injured during a mid-day Nov. 27 armed robbery at the Lincoln Oasis Travel Plaza northbound before the offenders fled onto Interstate 294.

Tinley Park

GUN POSSESSION: Christopher K. “C.J.” Bryant, 20, Chicago, is scheduled to appear in Will County court Dec. 10, charged with three counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and Ke Von V. Brown, 19, 2900 block of Stafford Drive, Calumet City, was arraigned Dec. 3, charged with two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, according to court records online. The charges stem from officers’ Nov. 15 recovery of an unloaded 9 mm replica handgun from Bryant and a loaded stolen .380 caliber pistol from Brown in a motel parking lot in the 18400 block of Spring Creek Drive, police said. The duo were in a car at the time of their arrest and too young to qualify for a state gun permit.

Steger

DUI CRASH: Joseph T. Espinosa, 53, Steger, was arrested Nov. 23 and accused of drunken driving and failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision after hitting a parked car at 35th Street and Phillips Avenue, police said.

University Park

DEADLY WEAPON: Andrew C. Mattox Jr., 40, Chicago,  is scheduled to appear in Will County court Dec. 9, charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to court records online. Officers arrested Mattox Nov. 17 on Western Avenue near Ashridge Lane after he hit an acquaintance in the forehead with a hammer at her home, police said.
