SHOOTING ARREST: A Chicago teen was arrested and charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated fleeing and eluding in connection with a Jan. 3 drive-by shooting in the 11800 block of Karlov Avenue, police said. Dante M. Harbin, 19, fled at a high rate of speed after firing at least 10 bullets at an apartment building, police said.
Burbank
SEXUAL ASSAULT: A Summit man accused of sexual assaults in Burbank, Oak Lawn and Summit appeared in Cook County court at Bridgeview Jan. 7, charged with three counts of predatory sexual assault/pre-teen victim, according to court records online. Mario A. Meraz-Gonzalez, 34, 7200 block of 61st Place, was charged Dec. 18 after a two-month investigation that began in Burbank, police said.
Chicago Ridge
CAR VERSUS BUILDING: A driver described as disoriented was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries after driving into the entrance windows at the Dollar Tree store, 9950 Ridgeland Ave., at 12:31 p.m. Jan 9, police said. No one in the store was injured and there was no structural damage, police said.
Evergreen Park
DRIVER THREATENED: Davionte T. Johnson, 21, Chicago, was arrested Dec. 30 and accused of aggravated assault in the 2900 block of 87th Street after responding to a one-passenger ride-share restriction by threatening the driver with a handgun, police said.
EMPLOYEE THREATENED: Sharon L. Robinson, 22, Chicago, was arrested Jan. 5 and accused of aggravated assault at 87th Street and Albany Avenue after brandishing pepper spray and a box cutter at an employee in a drugstore who attempted to prevent her from leaving, police said.
GUN POSSESSION: Derryan M. Hunt, 35, Chicago, appeared in Cook County court at Bridgeview Jan. 11, charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat offender, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, manufacture/delivery of 2.5-10 grams of cannabis and resisting a police officer, according to a court spokesperson. Hunt was arrested Jan. 9 in the 9200 block of Western Avenue after officers recovered two bags of suspected heroin and fentanyl, 158 grams of cannabis in multiple bags and a loaded handgun, police said.
Frankfort
ROBBERY CHARGES: Marcus D. Jackson, 27, of the 800 block of Deer Run Lane, New Lenox, and Kevin J. Muhammad Jr., 26, of the 4900 block Hollywood Drive, Country Club Hills, are charged with aggravated robbery/firearm in connection with taking a woman’s purse and cellphone in downtown Frankfort in September 2023, according to police and Will County court records online. The Will County Fugitive Warrants Unit and the US Marshalls Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force took Jackson into custody Jan. 2 in Chicago and Muhammad Jan. 8 in Chicago, based on identifications made by Frankfort detectives in December, police said.
Monee
EMPLOYEE THEFT: Mya Dumas, 19, Chicago Heights, was arrested Jan. 2 and accused of theft over $500, police said. The arrest was based on a company loss prevention officer’s complaint that she had removed wireless ear buds and smart phones collectively selling for about $2,350 while working at the Amazon Fulfillment Center, 6605 W. Monee-Manhattan Road, police said.
New Lenox
STORE ROBBED: Two males took cigarettes, lottery tickets and cigarettes Jan. 10 from Food ‘N Fuel, 2560 Cedar Road, with one jumping over the counter and threatening the employee before fleeing in a vehicle, police said. No one was injured. The cigarettes collectively sold for $3,500, police said.
Oak Lawn
THEFT: Investigators found no signs of forced entry Dec. 30 at a residence in an undisclosed block of Kenneth Avenue where an electric piano was stolen, police said.
GUN POSSESSION: Cristian Y. Aguilar-Sevilla, 23, of Lloyd Drive, Chicago Ridge, was arrested and accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition after an officer recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun Dec. 31 at Southwest Highway and Central Avenue and determined Aguilar-Sevilla lacked required gun permits, police said. Aguilar-Sevilla was also cited for reckless driving, driving without a valid license, driving without proof of insurance and aggravated speeding, police said.
GUN POSSESSION: Devonte M. Thornton, 19, of Lincoln Avenue, Dolton, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition after officers recovered a loaded 9 mm handgun and loaded magazine Dec. 31 in the 10700 block of Cicero Avenue, police said. In a related action, Alijah A. Coleman, 19, Chicago, was charged with manufacture/delivery of cannabis/more than 100 grams after officers recovered 21 plastic sandwich bags containing 165 grams of cannabis, about 50 empty sandwich bags and two digital scales, police said.
Palos Hills
DUI CRASH: Stefan Szwab, 52, 11000 block of Oak Avenue, Chicago Ridge, was arrested and accused of aggravated drunken driving during a Jan. 1 crash investigation in the 11001 block of Southwest Highway, police said.
GUN POSSESSION: Gabriel Torres, 37, 10400 block of Interlochen Drive, Palos Hills, was arrested and accused of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon during a Jan. 3 crash investigation in the 1000 block of Roberts Road after officers recovered a 9 mm handgun and a .380 caliber handgun, police said.
Park Forest
GUN POSSESSION: Robert E. Campbell, 19, Park Forest, was arrested Jan. 7 and subsequently charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after officers recovered a 9 mm handgun with a loaded magazine during a traffic stop at Western Avenue and Sauk Trail, police said.
Steger
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: Property valued at $3,700 was reported taken Jan. 10 in a residential burglary in the 300 block of West 34th Street.
