Southland crime: Spitting in Evergreen Park and Orland Park, and more

The following items were taken from police and court reports and news releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Evergreen Park

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Armando Santoyo, 39, Chicago, was accused of aggravated assault Dec. 21 at WalMart, 2500 95th St., after attempting to spit on a security officer while under arrest, police said.

BUSINESS BURGLARY: Early morning Dec. 22 security video at Ulta Beauty, 9620 Western Ave., shows two masked males shatter entry-door glass and display cases with hammers, remove cosmetics and perfume and then exit, police said. The get-away car’s license plate registration was reported stolen out of South Holland, police said.

AGGRAVATED DUI: Rafat A. Subhi Hasan, 42, 3000 block of Indian Springs Court, Joliet, was arrested Dec. 28 and accused of aggravated drunken driving in the 3900 block of Columbus Drive after officers determined he was driving drunk on a license revoked for multiple drunken-driving convictions, police said. Hasan was also accused of resisting arrest after running from the traffic stop, police said.

Homewood

EMPLOYEE BATTERY: Shedrek Anderson, 51, first block of White Oaks Road, Matteson, was arrested and accused of battery Dec. 1 after pushing an employee attempting to prevent him from exiting Burlington Coat Factory, 17825 Halsted St., police said.

IDENTITY THEFT: Jaylin Clemons, 29, 16500 block of Evans Court, South Holland, was arrested Dec. 13 on charges of aggravated identity theft and attempting to use another person’s identification to defraud in connection with two Oct. 8 transactions at Target, 17605 Halsted St., police said.

New Lenox

BATTERY: Hope C. Six, 57, 700 block of Cherry Hill Road, Joliet, was arrested Dec. 31 and accused of battery after forcing her way into Kentucky Fried Chicken, 340 Maple St., pushing an employee and throwing her food order in the employee’s face while complaining the order was incomplete, police said.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Thomas R. Charles, 31, Manhattan, was arrested Jan. 4 in the 300 block of Maple Street and accused of aggravated assault and violating an order of protection after brandishing a knife while threatening an individual in the 300 block of Andrea Drive, police said.

Orland Park

EMPLOYEE THEFT: Megan M. Vimarco, 39, 17700 block of Pheasant Drive, Tinley Park, was arrested Dec. 5 at Midwest Animal Hospital, 11205 183rd Place, and accused of stealing $2,700, police said.

FACE SPITTING: A Dolton woman who allegedly spat in the faces of two officers during a traffic stop is scheduled to appear in Cook County court at Bridgeview Jan. 24, charged with battery, police said. Kidata C. Wilson, 27, 14800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, was taken into custody Nov. 27 after officers decided to tow her vehicle, police said.

Palos Hills

DUI CRASH: Jacob T. Palmer, 22, Naples Florida, was arrested Dec. 24 and accused of drunken driving during a crash investigation in the 10400 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.

Park Forest

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Thomas R. Ryder, 34, first block of Brookside Road, Park Forest, was arrested Dec. 24 and subsequently charged with aggravated battery after an officer’s finger became dislocated while Ryder resisted arrest in that block, police said.

GUN POSSESSION: Jalen D. Blackwell, 31, Chicago, was arrested Dec. 25 south of Choate Road and subsequently charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon/revoked gun permit and possession of ammunition without a gun permit after officers recovered a .45 caliber handgun and loaded magazine, police said.

SHOOTING ARREST: Geno L. Ashford, 18, 800 block of Blackhawk Drive, University Park, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon/short-barreled rifle and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon/under 21 Jan. 2 after officers recovered a .223 caliber pistol with a loaded magazine he discarded before being taken into custody, according to police and sheriff’s records online. Officers apprehended Ashford on a Steger warrant charging him with shooting a 21-year-old man on Dec. 20, police said. Steger police said the shooting victim is in stable condition after undergoing neck and abdominal surgeries.

Peotone

LOTTERY THEFT: Four masked individuals took a lottery scratch-off display full of lottery tickets Jan. 4 from a truck stop near the intersection of Interstate 57 and Wilmington Road, police said. Investigators contacted the Illinois Lottery Commission and are actively following up on leads, police said.

Steger

STOLEN VEHICLES: The Illinois Statewide Auto Theft Task Force has joined the local law enforcement agency’s investigation, which recovered three stolen vehicles from a business on Dec. 28, police said. Steger officers spotted two of the vehicles outside the building in the 3600 block of Union Avenue while recovering the first vehicle from inside the business, police said.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: A resident of the 3700 block of Green Street reported property valued at $2,000 was removed during a Jan. 1 break-in.

SHOTS FIRED: Property damage, but no injuries, was reported Jan. 2 from a shooting in the 3500 block of Ashland Avenue, police said. Investigators recovered spent rifle and pistol shell casings, police said.

Will County

UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT: A Monee-area man accused of forcing his way into an acquaintance’s car and then holding her hostage for seven hours Dec. 27 was being held without bail Jan. 8 in Will County jail, according to a sheriff’s spokesperson. Odey M. Awad, 33, 25800 block of Kingston Lane, turned himself in Jan. 6 in connection with charges of vehicular invasion, kidnapping, unlawful restraint and domestic battery, the spokesperson said.
