On Monday morning, the St. Charles Fire Department responded to a brush fire on the 4000 block of Lincoln Highway in St. Charles, according to a press release from the fire department on Monday.
At around 10:21 a.m., the fire department responded to a report of a fire, and arrived four minutes later to an active fire on an undeveloped wildland area of about 80 acres west of the Illinois Youth Center, the release said.
The youth center was found to be not in danger due to the fire, officials said.
The fire’s alarm was upgraded for brush firefighting vehicles and water tenders, Monday’s release said, and it was under control at around 11:40 a.m.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries during the fire, the department said.
The St. Charles Fire Department also received assistance during the fire from the police department, Kane County Sheriff’s Office, St. Charles Emergency Management Agency and the Geneva, Fox River and Elburn fire departments, according to the release.
The fire was wind-driven, the fire department said, but the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
