The sales pitch for a motor fuel tax increase began Thursday as Kane County Board Chair Corinne Pierog delivered a “state of county business” address to local chambers of commerce. Tied to that was a call for more truck drivers to come to the county to staff exploding growth in trucking and distribution centers in the northwest part of the county. Pierog also applauded Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s decision to end most mask mandates by the end of this month.
