A state trooper was assisting a motorist on westbound Interstate 290 at Thorndale Avenue about 8:50 p.m. Thursday when his squad car, which was parked on the right shoulder and had its lights activated, was struck by a blue 2015 Chevrolet SUV driven by a Lakemoor man according to a news release.
