Steve Reaven’s baseball rankings and player of the week for Lake County

Stevenson, Grayslake Central, Mundelein, Lake Forest and Lakes all rise in the rankings as Waukegan debuts.

1. Libertyville 9-2-1 (1)

Chase Lockwood is 3-0 and hasn’t allowed an earned run in 10 2/3 innings, and he goes 3-for-3 as the DH in the Wildcats’ win against Lake Forest on Tuesday.

2. Stevenson 9-6 (3)

Drew Clark takes a no-hitter into the seventh inning during the Patriots’ win against Lake Zurich on Tuesday.

3. Grayslake Central 8-2 (4)

Coach Troy Whalen records his 500th win, a milestone in a 21-year career that also includes four trips downstate and six 30-win seasons.

4. Mundelein 8-2 (5)

The Mustangs’ busy week, which already included three wins, continues with nonconference games against McHenry and Highland Park.

5. Highland Park 10-4 (2)

Michael Pasquesi, who also pitches, has been locked in as a hitter, going 3-for-10 in the past week with a home run, three RBIs and, on Monday, four tough-luck outs.

6. Lake Forest 4-4 (7)

Pitchers Hudson Scroggins and Callum Morrison allow a total of three runs with 11 strikeouts over 10 1/3 innings in two losses to Libertyville.

7. Lakes 9-2 (9)

Mason Stiegleiter has been a big part of the Eagles’ impressive offense, hitting .576 with 11 RBIs entering Wednesday.

8. Grant 7-3 (6)

Despite taking the loss, Kyle Stigler pitched well against Grayslake Central on Tuesday, allowing two runs in six innings.

9. Lake Zurich 5-6 (8)

Ryan Kondrad was hitting .607 as the Bears went into Wednesday with a .313 team batting average.

10. Wauconda 6-5 (NR)

The Bulldogs have nine players batting over .300 and have 105 hits as a team through 11 games.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Senior pitcher Luke Weber, an Illinois recruit with a 0.27 ERA and 0.44 WHIP, threw a no-hitter during Highland Park’s 5-0 win against Deerfield on Tuesday, striking out seven, walking two and allowing only one ball out of the infield.
