Steve Reaven’s boys basketball rankings and player of the week for Lake County

Stevenson jumps to the top of the rankings, and Mundelein’s Evan Salvador is the player of the week.

Rocco Pagliocca is on a roll, totaling 36 points in wins against Waukegan and Lake Forest, as the Patriots surge into first in the North Suburban Conference.

2. Waukegan 18-6 (1) 

Simereon Carter, Jaali Love and Xavi Granville combine to score 57 points in the Bulldogs’ NSC win against Libertyville.

3. Warren 18-8 (3)

Zach Ausburn, one of four seniors in double figures on the Blue Devils’ senior night, leads the way with 16 points in their NSC win against Mundelein.

4. Lake Forest 15-8 (2) 

It bodes well for the Scouts down the stretch to get point guard Dominic Mordini back on the court.

5. Deerfield 16-7 (4) 

Jake Pollack scores 24 points to account for half of the Warriors’ total in their Central Suburban South win against Glenbrook South.

6. Grayslake Central 18-7 (6) 

Aidan Bechard and Carson Woods continue to provide solid play off the bench as the Rams take a two-game lead in the Northern Lake County Conference.

7. Highland Park 16-8 (8) 

Simon Moschin hasn’t slowed down, scoring 28 points in the Giants’ nonconference win against Grayslake North.

8. Grant 14-8 (7) 

Consistent production remains Braylon Gray‘s hallmark, as he records 12 points, five rebounds and four assists in the Bulldogs’ NLCC loss to Antioch.

9. Vernon Hills 15-11 (9)

Tyler Perritt returns to score 11 points against Hampshire, and teammate Brady Larsen’s 8-0 run sparks the Cougars’ comeback win.

10. Antioch 11-12 (NR) 

Mark Render scores 21 points, his third game with at least 20 this season, in the Sequoits’ win against Grant.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Senior guard Evan Salvador scores 58% of Mundelein’s points during a three-game span, averaging 25.7 points against North Suburban Conference rivals Stevenson, Libertyville and Warren.
