Steve Reaven’s boys basketball rankings and player of the week for Lake County

Lakes and Grayslake Central are among the teams that move up and Antioch returns as the three rivals clinch shares of the Northern Lake County Conference title.

1. Warren 27-4 (1) 

Immanuel Brown, Javerion Banks and Jaxson Davis combine for 45 points as the Blue Devils rout Lake Zurich to earn a share of the North Suburban Conference title.

2. Lake Forest 22-7 (2) 

Tommie Aberle scores 19 points as the Scouts claim the other half of the NSC title, their second in three seasons, with a win against Zion-Benton.

3. Stevenson 20-8 (3) 

Every senior scores, led by Jack Dabbs with 15 points, as the Patriots top Mundelein on senior night and reach 20 wins for the 10th time in 11 full seasons.

4. Lake Zurich 20-8 (4)

The Bears fall short in their bid for the NSC title but win 20 games for the first time since 2018.

5. Deerfield 16-13 (6) 

Jake Pollack and the Warriors head to the postseason with four wins in their past five games, having lost only to nationally ranked Wisconsin Lutheran.

6. Lakes 14-15 (7) 

James Kania and the Eagles earn a share of the three-way Northern Lake County Conference title with a win against Grant.

7. Grayslake Central 20-9 (9) 

Jayden Hall and Xavi Granville combine for 29 points as the Rams beat Wauconda to clinch their third straight 20-win season and a share of the NLCC title.

8. Waukegan 16-13 (5) 

The Bulldogs, who lost four of their past five games, get a rematch against one of those teams, Libertyville, in the regional semifinals next week.

9. Vernon Hills 16-13 (10) 

The Cougars’ schedule stiffens with losses to Lake Zurich and Glenbrook South and a game against Mid-Suburban West co-champion Palatine on Friday.

10. Antioch 14-16 (NR) 

Rounding out the NLCC race, Marshall Gehrke scores 18 points as the Sequoits beat Round Lake to lock up a share of their first conference title since 1981.

Player of the Week

Junior guard Jayden Hunt accounts for 56% of Grayslake North’s scoring over two games, putting up 30 points in a loss to Vernon Hills and 35 points in a win against North Chicago.
