Steve Reaven’s boys basketball rankings and player of the week for Lake County

Grayslake Central, Lake Zurich and Grayslake North are on the move. So is Grant, whose Damarrion Smith is the player of the week.

Jaxson Davis leads the way with 28 points and eight assists in the Blue Devils’ North Suburban Conference win against Mundelein on Tuesday.

2. Waukegan 12-3 (2)

After recording 18 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in the Bulldogs’ OT win against Young, Jaali Love follows with 20 points in an NSC win against Libertyville on Tuesday.

3. Deerfield 12-4 (3)

Sam Hanus scores 15 points in the Warriors’ Central Suburban South win against Maine South on Tuesday, while Drew Rodgers gives a boost off the bench.

4. Stevenson 9-6 (4)

Rocco Pagliocca scores all 11 of his points in the second half of the Patriots’ three-point NSC win against Lake Forest on Tuesday.

5. Libertyville 9-4 (5)

Bryce Wegrzyn, who has become a double-double machine, does it again with 28 points and 14 rebounds against Waukegan.

6. Grayslake Central 10-4 (7) 

Chris Jaimes goes for 16 points and eight rebounds as the Rams beat Antioch on Wednesday to remain the only unbeaten team in Northern Lake County Conference games.

7. Lake Forest 8-6 (6)  

Finn Graf is one of three Scouts with 10 points in their loss to Stevenson, joined by Hudson Scroggins and Dominic Mordini.

8. Grant 10-6 (9)

Charles Schlicht continues his ascent, scoring a team-high 24 points with four 3-pointers in the Bulldogs’ NLCC win against Wauconda on Wednesday.

9. Lake Zurich 7-8 (10) 

Kain Kretschmar scores a game-high 20 points in the Bears’ NSC win against Zion-Benton on Tuesday.

10. Grayslake North 10-7 (NR)

Uros Mitrovic’s career-high 22 points paces the Knights in their NLCC win against Round Lake on Wednesday.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Junior guard Damarrion Smith puts Grant on his back on Monday, scoring 27 of his 31 points in the second half of the team’s 73-68 come-from-behind win against Clinton, Wisconsin.
