A stolen Jeep SUV crashed into the front window of a Park Ridge sneaker and clothing store in the predawn hours of Wednesday, Aug. 28, and once the store was breached, several suspects stole merchandise, Park Ridge police said.
Police responded to an active burglar alarm from the HQ Chicago store at 137 N. Northwest Highway at 4:07 a.m. on Wednesday, Park Ridge police said in a statement. On arrival, police found a Jeep SUV, which had been stolen earlier in Park Ridge, crashed through the front of the building and resting in the center of the store. Further investigation revealed that while the Jeep was in the store, a white Dodge Durango pulled up to the front of the store and several offenders exited the Durango and proceeded to rob the store.
According to Park Ridge police reports, the store has been robbed twice since March. On March 5, an offender forcibly opened the rear door of the building in the early morning hours and stole merchandise. On Aug. 17, two men distracted an employee by sending them to the back of the store to look for specific shoe sizes and stole 15 shirts.
