We begin today’s column recognizing the life and legacy of Marco Ortiz of Lake in the Hills — a poet, a loving father and husband, an avid community volunteer and a trusted colleague. Ortiz was diagnosed in December with cholangiocarcinoma — a rare and aggressive bile-duct cancer — and died May 6 at age 60.
