Your recipes are in and now it’s time to vote for which mouthwatering treats will make it to the final round of the Tribune’s 2024 Holiday Cookie Contest.
There’s more than just bragging rights at stake here. First place wins $250 cash; second place, $150; third place, $50. Plus, our top three winners will also receive a copy of the Tribune’s book “Holiday Cookies, Second Edition.”
Voting for the 12 finalists starts Monday, Oct. 14. Readers can vote online once a day for the recipes they want to move on to the next round. Once voting concludes on Friday, Oct. 25, the top 12 recipes (with an option to turn it into a baker’s dozen of finalists, should our team feel one recipe merits the addition) will be baked by Tribune staff for judging.
Once again this year, guest judges will be sampling the cookies and picking three winners. Quinton McNair of StruggleBeardBakery, Dina Cimarusti of Sugar Moon and Emily Nejad of Bon Vivant will judge the sweets based on flavor, texture, appearance and originality. The Christkindlmarket’s Christkind will also make a special appearance as an honorary guest judge.
Judging will take place on Oct. 30. The winners will be notified by Nov. 1 and we’ll announce the winning recipes online and in print on Dec. 4. Plus, we’ll be at the Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza that day, where the Chriskind will help us give the winners their prizes.
Vote below until 11:59 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25.
