Chicago police arrested a suspect after an 8-year-old boy was shot in the chest Thursday evening in the Ashburn neighborhood.
The boy was inside a home on the 3800 block of West 87th Street around 5:50 p.m. when someone he knew shot him, police said. The boy was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition, police said.
Officers found a firearm at the scene and arrested the suspect. Authorities didn’t release details about the person as detectives continued their investigation.
