SWAT team on scene of fatal shooting overnight in Auburn Gresham

The SWAT team was called out to a scene of where a man was fatally wounded during a planned meeting for a sale of a vehicle overnight on the South Side in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 7800 block of South Paulina Street where a 26-year-old man was meeting someone for a sale of a vehicle. The person meeting the victim pulled out a weapon and fired shots at the victim, striking him to the head. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A witness at the scene saw the gunman flee to a nearby residence on Paulina Street where the SWAT team was called. As of Wednesday morning, the scene was still active, police said.
