Teen charged in recent shooting of 14-year-old boy on South Side

A teen was charged Thursday as a juvenile in the May 7 shooting of a 14-year-old boy on the South Side in the Douglas neighborhood, Chicago police said.

The teen, who is 17, was charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery in the shooting of a 14-year-old boy in the 200 block of East Pershing Road, police said.

The teen was arrested Wednesday in the 3500 block of West Pershing Road.

He was scheduled to appear at a juvenile detention hearing.
