A 14-year-old girl was killed and a 14-year-old boy was critically injured after a crash in West Garfield Park Saturday night, the Chicago Police Department said.
The driver of the vehicle, which had five passengers, disregarded a traffic signal Saturday night on the 3800 block of W. Harrison shortly after 11 p.m. and was hit by another vehicle on the driver’s side before running into a pole, according to police.
All five passengers were taken to local hospitals. The teen girl was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Mt. Sinai Hospital and the teen boy sustained blunt force trauma to the head and body and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, officials said.
The other three passengers had minor injuries. Police said Sunday the incident is still being investigated.
