Teens, 13 and 16, charged in Wednesday armed robbery on South Side

A teenage boy and girl were both charged in connection with a Wednesday armed robbery where the victim was battered with a gun, Chicago police said.

The teens, 16 and 13, were arrested shortly after 5 p.m. in the 6800 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive after they were identified as the armed robbers who 20 minutes earlier robbed a 19-year-old woman.

The victim was approached in the 6400 block of King Drive where her property was taken at gunpoint, and she was pistol whipped by the 13-year-old girl, police said.

Officers responded quickly and caught the teens four blocks away from the scene.

The boy was charged as a juvenile with armed robbery, possession of a stolen firearm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. The girl was charged with armed robbery with a firearm and misdemeanor aggravated assault with a deadly a deadly weapon.
