Rory McIlroy to finish top-5 (+210 at FanDuel)
We might be clouded in judgment here because of our deep desire for McIlroy to shake off his U.S. Open collapse and secure his first major championship in a decade. Still, he has a tremendous shot at holding up the Claret Jug on Sunday.
In recent history, McIlroy has put together some strong performances at The Open, finishing T6 in 2023, third in 2022, T2 in 2018, T4 in 2017, T5 in 2016, and winning in 2014.
Our confidence in McIlroy has also skyrocketed after a solid T4 finish last week at The Renaissance Club for the Scottish Open, which like Royal Troon is also a links course.
Between his strong form (T4 at The Scottish Open and second at The U.S. Open in his past two tournaments), comfort with links courses and recent play at Open Championships, McIlroy is a fantastic pick to be in contention on Sunday.
Bryson DeChambeau to finish top-10 (+190 at DraftKings)
Simply put, there is value here. No player has performed better in major championships this season than DeChambeau, logging a T6 at The Masters, a second-place finish at The Players, and a win at The U.S. Open at the infamous Pinehurst No. 2.
Furthermore, DeChambeau has made the cut at The Open Championship in three consecutive outings, meaning he has done a fair job of giving himself a shot to stay in contention on the weekends.
This season, in particular, he has shown an aptitude for picking his spots to attack greens and playing with much more discipline than in the past.
With his skill level, form and current mental state, DeChambeau should be in the mix throughout the tournament.
Dustin Johnson to miss cut (-110 at BetMGM)
Since joining LIV in June 2022, Johnson’s performance in major championships has slowly worsened, making a near-plus-odds bet on him to miss the cut an attractive proposition.
Johnson has missed three cuts in his past four major championship outings, including a gross 13-over at The Masters and a 9-over at The U.S. Open this year.
