Kroehler Manufacturing Co., based in Naperville and once was one of the country’s largest furniture producers, employed hundreds of people and sponsored groups, such as the Kroehler Girl’s Bowling League of 1947-1948, seen here in this black-and-white photograph from the Naperville Heritage Society collection. An unidentified man who looks suspiciously like company President Peter Kroehler is seated in the middle. While the company no longer exists, some of its vintage used pieces are sold through websites like www.chairish.com and www.incollect.com, where chairs, dressers and tables from the middle of the 20th century go for amounts far in excess of what they would have sold for originally.
