If you’ve ever wondered what downtown Naperville looked like in the 1940s, this postcard provides the answer. It offers a view of Washington Street looking north from Chicago Avenue. Jackson Avenue is at the left between the service station and Beidelman Furniture, the latter being only business there that’s still in existence. In fact, the 163-year-old business received landmark status from the city this summer. (Naperville Heritage Society/Naper Settlement)
