Thieves smash Zevar Jewelry displays, take Rolexes, in Norridge

On Sunday, March 24 at about 4:36 p.m., three men dressed in black and wearing ski masks and sunglasses entered Zevar Jewelry shop at Harlem Irving Plaza in Norridge, and one began smashing glass display cases near the back of the store with a hammer, according to a Norridge police report.

The thieves took 15 Rolex watches that had been displayed in that case, an employee told police after the incident, per the report. A second employee said she  saw the men smash another case on their way out and take additional items, and that the thieves were only in the store for about 30 seconds, per police.

A witness outside the store told police she had seen five men wearing ski masks run out of the mall’s Door D, that two of them were carrying plastic garbage bags that were filled and that they all got into a gray sedan with tinted windows, per the report. She told was unable to get a license plate number.

A copy of video of the incident from an unidentified witness was provided by mall security to police. Staff from a neighboring store also said they would provide video, and an employee of JD Sports said one of the offenders, who was carrying a yellow bag from that store, had purchased a pair of shoes from JD Sports just prior to the jewelry theft and used a credit card. He was not immediately able to provide information on the credit card.
