Here are some events happening from Aug. 9 to 15 in the Chicago suburbs and Northwest Indiana.
Series finale
The final outdoor summer concert is at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Lakeside Pavilion at the McAninch Arts Center on the College of DuPage campus in Glen Ellyn. Tickets are free. At 425 Fawell Blvd. 630-942-4000; atthemac.org.
Elton John tribute artist Elton Rohn recreates the atmosphere and sound of an Elton John concert. Audiences will hear hits like “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” “Tiny Dancer,” “I’m Still Standing” and more.
Blues weekend
Broad Street Blues and Barbecue Festival is 4-11 p.m. Aug. 9, 2-11 p.m. Aug. 10 and 1:30-10 p.m. Aug. 11 at Central Park in Griffith. Tickets are free. At 600 N. Broad St. 219-924-7500; griffith.in.gov/specialevents/page/broad-street-blues-and-bbq-festival.
The fest features a lineup of well-known blues musicians including Freddie Dixon Blues Band and Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues Aug. 9, the Smiley Tillmon Band and Wayne Baker Brooks Aug. 10 and John Primer and Bobby Rush Aug. 11. There will also be a barbecue competition, a wide selection of craft and domestic beers and fireworks on Aug. 10.
Joliet blues
The sixth annual Blues Fest is 3-10 p.m. Aug. 10 at Bicentennial Park in Joliet. Tickets are $15-$20. At 201 W. Jefferson St. 815-724-3761; bicentennialpark.org.
A stellar lineup is on the bill at Joliet’s Blues Fest; including Joe Asselin, the Sean McKee Band, Brother John Kattke with Marqueal Jordan and headliners The Mike Wheeler Band with Peaches Staten.
Classic cool cars
The annual Vintage Car Show is from 12 to 4 p.m. Aug. 11 at The Lot in Highland Park. Tickets are free. At St. Johns Avenue, between Central Avenue and Elm Place. 847-926-1000; enjoyhighlandpark.com/the-lot.
Attendees can expect around 200 classic cars; including Highland Park commercial vehicles, muscle cars and even vintage models dating back to 1907. The iconic Batmobile will be onsite courtesy of Klairmont Kollections Automotive Museum. Additionally, radio DJ “Eddie V” of the “Eddie and Jobo Morning Show” will be on site to announce the car show winners.
Summer Pops series continued
The Fox Valley Orchestra performs at 3 p.m. Aug. 11 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Aurora. Tickets are $18-$28. At 27 S. Edgelawn Drive. 630-891-2526; facebook.com/foxvalleyorchestra/.
The Orchestra presents “Percussive Jazz,” a program featuring jazz and world music with guest percussionist/pianist Robert Chappell under the direction of Stephen Squires.
