He’s just Pete

Actor and comedian Pete Davidson brings his Prehab Tour to Gary. Davidson was a member of the “Saturday Night Live” cast for eight seasons and recently wrote, produced and starred in “Bupkis” on Peacock. In 2020, Davidson co-wrote, executive produced and starred in the film “The King of Staten Island.”
Family movie night
“Minions: The Rise of Gru” will be showed at 8:30 p.m. July 26 at Rotary Hill in Naperville. Tickets are free. At 443 Aurora Ave. 630-848-5000; napervilleparks.org, search for A Night at the Movies.
Naperville Park District kicks off “A Night at the Movies,” a series of five free, family-friendly movies hosted at Naperville parks. Everyone is welcome to bring their own folding chairs, blankets and snacks.
Tribute to a living legend
Small Town – A Tribute to John Mellencamp will perform at 7:30 p.m. July 31 at Fox Pointe in Lansing. Tickets are free. At 18138 Henry St. 708-895-7204; foxpointe.org/event.
Small Town is a seven-piece tribute band comprised of actual Hoosiers that strive to create Mellencamp’s high-energy, hit-filled shows from his 40-plus year career.
Author talk
“A Date With History” series is at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 at Cantigny Park in Wheaton. Tickets are free with $5 parking. At 1S151 Winfield Road. 630-668-5161; cantigny.org and search the calendar.
Two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and New York Times best-selling author David Maraniss will discuss his 2003 book, “They Marched Into Sunlight: War and Peace, Vietnam and America, October 1967.” The lecture will be inside the Cantigny Visitors Center of the First Division Museum at Cantigny.
After the program, guests are invited to McCormick House for a VIP cocktail reception with Maraniss. Reception tickets are $60 and must be purchased in advance.
A ‘Cinderella’-ish story
Cinderella’s Tom Keifer performs at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan. Tickets are $39-$75. At 203 N. Genesee St. 847-263-6300; geneseetheatre.com.
Tom Keifer is the voice behind the 1980s hard rock band Cinderella. He brings his band to the Genesee to perform hits like “Nobody’s Fool,” “Don’t Know What You Got,” “Coming Home,” “Shake Me” and “Gypsy Road.” The band L.A. Guns will open; known for hits like “The Ballad of Jayne,” “Never Enough” and “Rip and Tear.”
