Watch walls

Celebrate Highwood will present the International Mural Festival June 6-9 at the Highwood Metra Lot and Everts Park, 17 Highwood Ave., Highwood. Tickets: Free admission. 847-432-6000; celebratehighwood.org.

To celebrate the Mural Festival, for which 12 renowned muralists will paint art installations on buildings throughout Highwood, there will be a carnival, food, games, and a bar in the Highwood Metra Lot for four days. On June 9, Mural Fest in Everts Park will have art vendors, live music, and food and drink vendors.

Steal away, see this play

MadKap Productions will present “The Lightning Thief: a Percy Jackson Musical” June 7-July 28 at Skokie Theatre, 7924 Lincoln Ave., Skokie. Tickets: $35; $25 seniors and students. 847-677-7761; skokietheatre.org.

The musical, based on Rick Riordan’s popular young adult book series, is by Joe Tracz (book) and Rob Rokicki (score). The show will run in repertory with “Grease” by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.

Sounds like summer

Dominican University will present “Summer Sounds ’24” June 12-Aug. 14 at 7900 W. Division St., River Forest. Tickets: free. 708-366-2490; dom.edu/arts-minds/performing-arts-center.

Outdoor performances are Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. in the Quad, starting June 12 with The Redmonds.
