National Weather Service officials are expecting near 90 degree temperatures Thursday in portions of north central and northeast Illinois, and northwest Indiana.
Current morning conditions at O’Hare International Airport is partly cloudy at 73 degrees, and farther south at Midway Airport conditions are mostly cloudy at 74 degrees.
Thursday’s temperatures are expected to reach at least 89 degrees with a 30 to 70 percent chance of thunderstorms during the day, officials said. Thursday night there is a 60 percent chance of heavy rain followed by a slight chance of thunderstorms.
Officials said showers and thunderstorms are expected mainly after 4 p.m., and could produce heavy rainfall. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half of an inch was possible.
Southwest winds were blowing 10 to 15 mph with wind gusts as high as 25 mph possible, officials said.
Friday, conditions are expected to be sunny with clear skies.
