National Weather Service officials are expecting temperatures in the low 90s Tuesday with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon hours.
Current morning conditions at O’Hare international Airport is overcast at 79 degrees. At Midway Airport on the southwest side conditions are mostly cloudy at 80 degrees, officials said.
Officials warn heat indices would mostly be in the mid to upper 90s through the week, and may reach 100 degrees in some areas, along with thunderstorm chances.
Severe weather was not expected Tuesday, but isolated thunderstorms are a possibility.
Wednesday, scattered thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon hours and some of the storms could create strong wind gust and heavy rain, officials said.
