Two arrested and charged for fatally shooting 18-year-old woman

Two people have been arrested and charged for the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old woman, according to Chicago police.

The suspects, 24-year-old Jeremiah Jordan and 19-year-old Shanna Walton-Smith, were arrested on March 8 around 1:04 a.m. in Englewood. They are both facing felony charges of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder and murder with strong probability for death or injuries. Jordan is also charged with one felony count of unlawful possession of a weapon and one misdemeanor for fleeing/attempting to elude an officer.

On March 7 around midnight, police officers responded to a report of a person shot in the first block of East 21st Street. Upon arrival, officers said they found two people with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle, including an 18-year-old woman with two gunshot wounds to the chest and a 38-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the hand. The woman was pronounced on the scene while the man was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition.

A witness at the scene told officers that the victims were shot by someone passing in a vehicle.
