Firefighters found the bodies of two people inside a burning Highland Park home early Wednesday, authorities said.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
According to the village of Highland Park, firefighters discovered the bodies inside the house at around 4 a.m.
Firefighters were called at around 3:50 a.m. to the 1700 block of Parke Avenue West for a house fire. When they arrived, flames were coming through the roof of the residence. The bodies were found during an initial examination of the scene, the village said.
While crews were extinguishing the fire, other first responders entered the residence to search for additional victims, but none were found, authorities said.
Investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing with assistance from the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.
