Two charged in 2023 fatal shooting of Round Lake teen

Two people, one a juvenile, have been charged in the October 2023 shooting death of a Round Lake teenager, authorities said.

Round Lake police said the pair were arrested Wednesday in Volo and charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Chad Greenenwald, 17.

Police identified the suspects as Demarion R. Gibert, 20, and Dimon Gibert, 17, of Round Lake Beach. They have also been charged with armed robbery, police said. Dimon Gibert has been charged as an adult, police said.

Round Lake police said that Greenenwald was fatally shot at 8:22 p.m. on Oct. 4, 2023, as he sat in a car in the 500 block of Sycamore Drive. “Multiple individuals” approached the car before getting into an altercation with Greenenwald, police said.

The charges come after what Round Lake police called an exhaustive investigation aided by local, state and federal law enforcement agents.

After obtaining an arrest warrant, Round Lake police and FBI agents located the pair in the 800 block of Richard Brown Boulevard in Volo and took them into custody.
