Two children from Justice were killed Saturday in a two-vehicle crash in LaPorte County, Indiana, according to sheriff’s police.
Police said an 11-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl were passengers in a 2002 Chevolet Trailblazer that was pulling a U-Haul trailer when it collided with another vehicle.
Three other people in the Chevy, including the driver, were hospitalized with injuries, according to police.
Police said they were called at 12:42 P.M. Saturday to the intersection of Joliet Road and County Road 900 West for a two-vehicle crash with injuries.
Police said the Chevy was being driven south on CR 900 West and a 2011 Ford F250 pickup truck was being driven east on Joliet Road.
Police said the driver of the Chevy disregarded the stop sign at the intersection and the Ford collided with the other vehicle.
The 41-year-old driver of the Chevy and the 47-year-old driver of the pickup, a LaPorte man, both suffered upper body injuries and were taken to area hospitals, police said.
A 36-year-old female passenger in the Chevy, also suffered an upper body injury and was hospitalized and a 16-year-old girl in the vehicle who had suffered an upper body injury was airlifted to a hospital.
Police said all of the people in the Chevy, including the children who were pronounced dead at the scene, were from Justice.
Police said that toxicology tests results were pending.
A message left Wednesday with the LaPorte County coroner’s office seeking information about the identities of the children was not immediately returned.
