Two critically injured in Calumet Heights apartment fire

Two people were critically injured after a fire tore through an apartment in Calumet Heights late Sunday night, police said.

The fire broke out in an eighth-floor apartment on the 9100 block of South Chicago Avenue at around 11:38 p.m.

A 64-year-old man was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital and transferred to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. A woman was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, also in critical condition.

No other injuries were reported, according to police.
