Two Hebron men killed motorcycle crash

Two men were killed early Friday morning when the motorcycle they were riding on crashed in unincorporated Crown Point.

Around 5:10 a.m., Crown Point Fire and Rescue were called out to a crash in the 12800 block of Whitcomb Street. Chief Mark Baumgardner Jr. said it appeared the two men were riding on the same motorcycle, which had crashed for an unknown reason. A Lake County Sheriff’s Department release said the two men were lying in the yard of a home near 129th Court and Cedar Lake Road and it appeared that the motorcycle left the roadway and struck at least two trees.

Mark Bardenson, 32, who resided in the 700 Block of W. Jackson Street, and Nicholas Jones, 29, who resided in the 700 block of Beverly Drive, sustained multiple blunt force injuries, according to a release from the Lake County Coroner’s Office. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The release said toxicology reports are pending. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department Crash Reconstruction Unit is conducting the investigation.
