Park Forest police are investigating the deaths of two women, ages 30 and 51, who were discovered Thursday night in a home on the 300 block of Miami Street.
Police said they responded to a report of a gunshot victim, and also found two unharmed children in the home where the women were found with gunshot wounds at 6:08 p.m. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the other taken to a hospital, where she died, police said.
The children were also taken to hospitals as a precaution, police said.
Park Forest police said the victims and an unnamed suspect were acquainted with each other.
The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force was activated, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit was called to assist the Park Forest Investigations Unit, police said.
