University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign taps new business school dean

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has named W. Brooke Elliott as its new dean of the Gies College of Business.

Elliott’s appointment begins Aug. 16 and is subject to approval by the university’s board of trustees, according to the school’s news release. She will also serve as a professor in business.

Elliott is the current executive associate dean of academic programs at Gies and has been a faculty member at the school since 2003, with a focus on accounting.

“Professor Elliott’s dedication to and vision for the college’s future, along with the passion she brings to her current work, made her the clear choice to lead Gies College of Business,” said John Coleman, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. “She is an accomplished scholar and an empathetic, transparent and collaborative leader, and I am confident she will lead the college toward continued success.”

Elliott earned her undergraduate degree in accounting and masters of business administration with a focus on accounting from Indiana University’s business school. Her doctorate in accounting is from the University of Washington.
