Valparaiso man dies at Chicago hospital after golf cart crash on Calumet Avenue

A Valparaiso man injured in a golf cart crash with a pickup truck earlier this month died Sunday at a Chicago hospital, officials said.

Richard White, 84, died at 2:53 p.m. Sunday at the University of Chicago Medical Center, according to the Cook County (Illinois) Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause and manner of death were not immediately available.

Capt. Joe Hall, public information officer for the Valparaiso Police Department, confirmed that White was the driver of a golf cart that was involved in a crash with a pickup truck at 12:24 p.m. on Oct. 12 at the intersection of McCord Road and Calumet Avenue.

The crash is still under investigation, Hall said.
