Valpo police investigate Friday shooting; one injured, one questioned

One person was injured after a Friday afternoon shooting and another was taken in for questioning, according to Valparaiso Police.

Police were called around 3:50 p.m. March 8 to the 350 block of South Locust Street for a report of a subject being shot, according to a release from Capt. Joe Hall, the department’s public information officer.

Police were directed to a resident who had sustained a gunshot wound. A second person was located on the scene and told police he was directly involved in the incident. He was taken into custody and transported to the Valparaiso Police Department for further investigation.

The injured person was transported from the scene for additional medical treatment.

The investigation is ongoing but there is no known threat to the community as the incident appears to be isolated to the subjects involved, Hall said, adding additional information will be released when or if it becomes available.
