Vendors are being sought to participate in this year’s Aurora Greenfest, which organizers have announced will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave. in Aurora.
Aurora Greenfest is a free environmental festival which includes family-friendly events and performances, organizers said.
This year’s festival is themed “Electrify Your Life,” and vendors are being encouraged to apply to take part in the event.
“Recent Illinois and federal laws have provided great incentives for renewable energy, electrical vehicles and energy efficiency,” said festival founder Mavis Bates, of Aurora, in a press release about the event. “We are seeking solar installers, home energy efficiency experts, appliance stores and electrical vehicle charging vendors.
“Our visitors will be looking for ways to take advantage of these important rebates and incentives,” she said.
Bates and a team of volunteers are part of Aurora Greenlights, a local group affiliated with The Conservation Foundation, which works to continue the environmental festival.
The group welcomes interested exhibitors and vendors to be part of the event. They are looking for vendors that offer fair trade and organic products, sustainable food choices including community-supported agriculture groups, recycling, native gardening and more, according to the release.
An artist area at the fest will feature recycled art, handmade art, crafts and jewelry, organizers said. Electric car owners are also invited to display their car in an electric car show.
The festival will also include live music, educational opportunities focusing on wild animals, food vendors and more, according to the release.
