Victim critically burned in apartment fire overnight in Belmont Cragin neighborhood

A male victim who was pulled from an apartment fire overnight in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood suffered burns to his body and was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition, Chicago police said.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday, police and fire officials were called out to an apartment building fire in the 2500 block of North Meade Avenue. A male victim was rescued with a laceration to the neck and burns to the body, police said.

The victim was taken to Loyola University Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition, police said. The victim’s exact age was not immediately available.
