Victim critically injured in shooting overnight in East Chatham neighborhood

A man was seriously wounded overnight while he was walking in the East Chatham neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said.

The man was walking about 1:10 a.m. in the 8000 block of South Drexel Avenue when someone opened fire, striking him to the face. He was taken to UChicago Medicine where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating.
