WBBM-Ch. 2 weekday afternoon news anchor Jim Williams and his wife, Joyce, on Nov. 4 sold their two-bedroom, 1,639-square-foot condominium on the 31st floor of a 54-story South Loop high-rise for $783,750.
A Chicago native, Williams has been with CBS 2 since 2002 and prior to that was with ABC News and WGN-Ch. 9. He also served for a time as press secretary for Mayor Richard M. Daley.
In the South Loop, Williams and his wife paid $659,000 in late 2014 for the unit, which is in the One Museum Park West building. The unit has two bathrooms, a den, an open floor plan, floor-to-ceiling windows, a private walkout balcony, custom-designed closets, walk-in closets in the entry hall and in the primary bedroom, a kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops and a primary bedroom suite with a marble bathroom, a double bowl vanity and a whirlpool tub.
“After minor renovations, it was in pretty good condition, and the price was just right. It was reasonable — not too high, not too low,” listing agent Mariam Moeinzadeh of Compass told Elite Street. “It’s a popular floor plan in that building.”
The couple first listed the unit in 2020 for just under $800,000. They cut their asking price to $770,000 in 2021 and then raised their asking price to $789,900 in late 2023. The couple then lowered their price to $775,000 in May and $750,000 in July, and then increased their asking price to $799,500 in August.
The condo had a $13,269 property tax bill in the 2023 tax year. It also has an $879-a-month homeowners association fee.
Williams and his wife last year bought a four-bedroom home in suburban Geneva. He did not respond to a request for comment.
