While the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has dropped the Schaumburg Police Department’s charge of unlawful use of weapon against a 17-year-old in the stabbing death of 18-year-old Manuel Porties Jr. of Elgin last week, both agencies say that case is not closed.
