A 14-year-old boy who allegedly brought a loaded gun to Glenbard East High School Monday will be held pending trial, authorities said.
The teen is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possessing a firearm as a minor, according to a news release from DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Lombard Police Chief Tom Wirsing.
A student at Glenbard East first reported a loaded nine-millimeter handgun in a boys’ restroom Monday afternoon, the release said. Lombard police tracked the gun to a Glendale Heights home, where the boy lived. They interviewed the boy and arrested him shortly afterward, according to the release.
Judge Demetrios Panoushis ordered the teen held until his next court date of Sept. 16, the release said.
