Wheeling police are investigating the deaths of a couple who were discovered dead at a home after a call of a wellbeing check Thursday evening.
Shortly before 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a wellbeing check at a residence in the 300 block of 12th Street after a call from a person who found two people dead after going to the home to check on them, officials said. A firearm was found next to the couple’s bodies.
Police identified the deceased as the residents of the home, a couple in their 40s, who were involved in a strained domestic relationship, officials said.
Friday morning, the couple were identified as Marisa Dister, 46, and Dexter O’Connor, 44, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The official cause of death was pending autopsy results.
Wheeling Police Department has no reason to believe a greater threat to the public exists, officials said.
