Wilmette police arrest two for residential burglary

Wilmette police have arrested two men in connection with a residential burglary, per a statement from the department.

Police responded to an alarm Jan. 16 in the 3000 block of Greenleaf Avenue, Wilmette, according to a news release, and discovered a residential burglary had occurred.  Based upon similar reports in the region, investigators worked with the North Regional Major Crime Task Force (NORTAF) to identify the vehicle used and suspects.

Officers observed the vehicle and suspects after having committed a residential burglary Jan. 18 in the 700 Block of Romona Road, Wilmette, and in coordination with the NORTAF Burglary Task Force, followed the suspects to a residence in the 6100 Block of North Hiawatha, in Chicago’s Edgebrook neighborhood, where they took them into custody without incident, according to the news release. Police recovered items  from the burglaries on Greenleaf Avenue and Romona Road  from the suspects’ vehicle.

Police charged Noel M. Armanov, 43, of the1800 block of Greenwood Ave., Waukegan, with two counts of residential burglary and one count of unlawful use of a weapon.

They also charged Jonathan Garcia, 32, of the 2600 block of Roberts Ave., Waukegan, with two counts of residential burglary and one count of possession of burglary tools.

Police took both men to Cook County Jail in Chicago, awaiting a court date, they said.

An arrest does not constitute a conviction.
